Lord God, it is said that every journey begins with one step. For this reason I bring to You my request that You help me to start to lose weight. Help me to take the first step to restoration.
I have watched hopelessly as the weight has piled onto my body. I am now overweight and obese. I excused my gains with anxiety, aging, metabolism, boredom, countless things: I can not list the many ways I used excuses to prevent myself from taking action to begin my weight loss journey.
I am frustrated and really do not know where to begin. However, I know the good news that declares, "With God nothing is impossible." Therefore I bring to You this problem with my weight, and I cast it at the foot of the cross as I ask for Your divine help and wisdom.
I pray that You will lead me to a sensible solution day by day. Keep me from fads, quick gimmicks and yes, even eating disorders as I try to bring my weight down again to a normal range.
We are told that patience is a virtue, and I pray that as this weight dissipates at a slower rate then the gain appeared that I might do my part day by day with the gift of the Holy Spirit operating--and that is self-control.
I ask that You might lead me to information and support that would set me free from this bondage I appear to have with food.
I ask that You might give me a clear mind at every meal that I will not overindulge, but eat only my daily bread that is promised to us.
I ask that You might teach me about choices and nutrition that I might give up the foolish things that I eat in lieu of healthy choices.
I ask that I might be in health as Your Word promises by beginning to eat in a healthy manner.
I ask that You bless my efforts and keep me far from discouragement as I begin this journey.
I thank You, Lord that no need is to small or significant that I can not bring it to Christ.
I plead with You, Lord for help in this area that is a real sore spot with me.
Help me Lord, to be a good witness in all I do: Eat, drink, whatever. Restore me to a normal body size, and I do promise to glorify Your name, through Christ Jesus. Amen

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why is there no one in my life to companion with me?
Day after day, the phone does not ring. The doorbell does not sound. I have no one to talk to. I find myself in a pit of despair with no one to share little moments with each day.
I have asked You to send others to me to fill my life, and yet You are silent, or so it seems.
Then I looked in Your Word, and You spoke to me. You answered me from on high and said, "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up."
The world is full of people who want contact with others. I am not alone. I want significant contact and You have taken me up! Being lonely is not the same as being alone or apart from You. There have been times in my life when in the presence of others I have felt lonely, unseen, insignificant.
Oh Lord, I see that You are not silent. I see that it is other voices rather than Yours I desire to hear. I see that I need to overcome these moments and let my completion and fullness come from You.
It is difficult, but You are not a silent God. Speak and I will hear and I will search out and comfort the countless others that feel as alone and estranged as I do.
I will make an effort to tell others of Your unfailing love. Lonliness is a choice and I will choose to actively refute it. I will seek to take to others the Good News. We will have so much to talk about. I will be a spokesperson for You and seek out others to comfort them, and then I shall find the fulfillment to my loneliness.
And dear Lord, just as a token sign of this covenant, will You just send one to me to confirm my vow? Will You just let a voice speak to my heart whatever the source. Will You take me up and give me courage to no longer dwell in silence and loneliness?
You have said, "It is not good for man [woman] to be alone, so I look to Your favor of communicating with others, but this day I will not remain in silence. I will ask, seek and knock, and I will no longer be lonely, through Christ my Lord and Savior. Amen

Prayer For Salvation (Family Member)
Lord God, You have been so good to us. Thank You for Your grace and forgiveness. You have been so merciful to us, not repaying us according to our deeds, but forgiving us every day. Your mercies are new every morning- great is Your faithfulness.
Forgive our faithlessness at times: We give up on people a little too easily. We need You Lord, more than anything else in this life. Without You Lord, we would be lost and life would have no joy and we would not know the peace that passes all understanding.
You see our loved ones and the states of their hearts. Some are hard-hearted toward You and others are truly searching.
Please save our family members who do not know You. Speak to their hearts so they will turn to You, to seek You and to trust You as their Savior and Lord. No one comes to the Son, but that the Father first draw him. Draw our family members to Yourself. We know that Your Love is boundless; You do not want any to perish but all to come to repentance.
Cause our family members to come to repentance. Rescue them from death and hell. Rescue their minds from futility and the bondage of sin. Please free them Lord, and show them Your great mercy and love. Cause their eyes to be opened so they can see who You really are and that they would bow to You and worship You as we do. If their eyes were opened, they would give their hearts to You. You are a strong deliverer, Lord. Reveal Yourself to them. Don't let satan deceive them any longer.
If they will not hear us, send someone to them to whom they will listen so that they can hear the Gospel and be born again. We release them into Your hands. Only You are able to save. We present them to You, and we wait on You. We want so much to rejoice with them in heaven when we see You face to face.
Help us to entrust You with these loved ones. You are worthy of our trust. For we know in whom we have believed and are persuaded that You are able to keep that thing which we have committed until that day. We trust You Lord. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen

Father God, there is no getting around it. The Lord's prayer teaches us....Luk 11:4 "And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us."
I do say the Lord's prayer quite often, but I am struggling at this moment with forgiving someone who has truly hurt me and wronged me.
I am not new to Christianity and I know that my feelings are not Godly. I know I must forgive or it will eat me as a cancer. I know that I can not be whole in body, mind or spirit until I can truly turn this over to You, and not only forgive but forget.
It is so hard, Lord. I want to cling to this wrong. I want to justify myself. I want to wallow in pity.
I know this is so wrong and so against what Jesus preached and lived. On that note, I turn this over to You and I ask that the Holy Spirit touch me that I might truly forgive as Jesus did, and as other saints have, like Stephan, who was faithful to the end. I know my example will merit and confirm whether I am truly in Christ or not!
I am hurt, but You alone can heal me, Lord.
I am stubborn, but You alone can heal me, Lord.
I hesitate to take the first step, but You alone can cause me to do it, Lord. Teach me to be humble and to offer the "olive branch."
I accept Christ Jesus and because of His redemption, I will take responsibility for this hurt, on my part, and ask You not only to help me to forgive, but to understand the meaning of leaping with joy when we are persecuted for Your name's sake.
Clear me of any wrong doing on my part, and clear that one that I have grievous problems with. Set us both free, Lord, because we are promised, "Whom the Lord sets free, is free indeed.
I thank Your Father God that forgiveness is now granted, through Christ who has taught me to pray. Amen

Thank You, Lord for all Your goodness to me. Thank You for Your kindness and Your deep love for me.
You have held my hand when no one else was there, or could be there. When no one knew, You knew and understood me. When no one else could share in my sadness', You let me pour my grief. You bottled my tears.
When I thought that no one could help me with my heavy, heavy burdens, You took them from me. At those times when I felt utterly abandoned and unloved, You gently whispered, " I am with you". How could I ever tell of all Your love and faithfulness? It would take a lifetime.
Thank You for all You have done for me and in me.
Thank You for how You walk with me and talk with me, and how You carry me and hold me.
Thank You for Your love that knows no limits.
Thank You for speaking to my secret heart, for healing hurts, and for forgiving me every time I fail.
Thank You, Lord that You truly know me, who I am when no one else is watching, and You still LOVE me.
You are worthy of my praise and thanksgiving. You are worthy of all honor, all blessing, and all praise. In Jesus' name I give You thanks. Amen

Prayer For Cancer (Victim)
We can, through Christ, beat the cancer statistics. Lord, help us to be numbered as a survivor.
The shock, anger and denial of this disease attacking our body has been met faced on, Lord.
The questions, uncertainty and the facing our mortality has also been met faced on, Lord.
What we seek now, at the very least, is assurance that the treatments and medical advice will be the best available for our individual case.
The doctors talk about survival rates and statistics, but what we seek from You, Almighty God, is assurance.
Please, God direct us to the best treatments and supports that are available.
Please, God direct us to the best doctors and staff that is available.
Please, God grant us a clear mind that might participate in our own course of healing.
Please, God keep us updated of options that we might have.
Please, God keep our treatments reasonable and do not forsake us when they become overwhelming or tedious.
Please, God give us determination in our course of action and peace that passes all understanding as we, or others might question whether we are doing the right thing.
Please, God, as we have or doubts and uncertainties, send others that we might reason with. Give us not only supportive friends and family, but give us those that we might honestly share this burden with without condemnation or useless advice.
And above all, God, if we fail to survive, we ask that You prepare us for our death. We ask that we may be a glimmer of braveness and perseverance in all we do after receiving this diagnosis.
We ask for Your comfort, Your peace, and a clear mind that will testify that when we have done all we could possibly do, we rested in You, and we trusted in You.
Almighty God, we do ask for healing in the name of Your Son, Christ Jesus, but we are assured You are with us and preparing us for either the battle ahead, or the hope of joy eternal.
We lay this request at the foot of the cross, and we trust You for what is about to occur in our lives. We ask for exoneration of any thoughts of guilt or condemnation that might occur. We ask You for blessings when all else seems to fail.
We thank You for the spiritual blessings You are about to bestow on us, and we ask that it might also include relief for the physical and mental. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen

Prayer For The Backslidden
Father, I need You. Please cleanse me from sin. Forgive me for all the ways in which I have sinned against You. You are right Lord, and I can no longer fight against You. I know You have been calling me to come back to You, and I want to come home. Show me Lord how to come back to You.
Cause me to walk in the Spirit so that I don't fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Strengthen me to hide Your word in my heart so that I will not sin against You.
Change my heart; I need a new heart, Lord. Change my mind, my way of thinking. Don't let me be conformed to this world, but let me be transformed by the renewing of my mind, so that I can prove what is the perfect and acceptable will of the Lord. I do not want to live a backslidden life stuck in sin and regret.
Deliver me fully from those sins that have become strongholds in my life. Father, don't let me live this life any longer as a servant of sin. Give me that Godly sorrow that works true repentance. Cause me to yield my members as instruments of righteousness so that I can honor You with this life You have given me.
I yield this vessel to you. I commit myself into Your hands; please transform me, make me, and mold me so I can please You. Allow me to Worship You in Spirit and in truth
Conform me to the image of Your dear Son, Jesus. My life has been a bad witness; please take these broken pieces and make me whole again, a good witness so You are glorified. Don't let me bring shame to the name of Christ, but let me be a testimony of Your goodness, so that others can know that you are a God who has the power to change hearts and lives today.
Thank you for Your deliverance and for Your guidance and care. Keep me immersed in Your Word. Teach me Your ways- to walk in them. I pray this all in the name of Jesus. Amen

Prayer For Marriage (Restore)
Father, forgive me Lord for the ways in which I have sinned against You. Cleanse me from all sin and lead me in the way everlasting. You alone are God and there is none beside You. You work all things after the counsel of Your own will and all your ways are right. Your will is perfect and Your ways are past finding out. You know my heart and my spouses heart. You see where no one else sees.
So much harm has been done in this marriage. We have both said and done things that are not of You, and we need your help Lord.
Please heal this broken marriage. For your mercy's sake keep this marriage together. You said in Your Word that You hate divorce. Please keep us from it, and cause us to forgive one another, not bringing up past hurts. Help us so we are able to forget those things that are behind us and move forward in You. Cause us to receive Your healing. Give us the wisdom to face the problems we have in this marriage, not ignore them, but give them to You so that we can be changed. Show us the issues that need to be left alone, and those that need to be addressed. Show each of us those areas in ourselves where we are blind and need Your cleansing.
Lord, turn what satan intended for evil, into good- only You have the power to restore the love in this marriage. You are able to make it stronger than ever, healed and revived- a monument of Your grace.
Glorify Your name through this marriage. Allow us to be a testimony of Your great love and endless mercy. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen

Prayer For The Unemployed
Lord God, we are at wit's end. The Bible clearly states, (2Th 3:10) "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, If any will not work, neither let him eat." Now we are reduced to this status of unemployment. Whether it was our will or whether it was thrust upon us, we are asking You for hope and help.
We have leads, but they turn to naught. We have hope, but it is crushed. We have done our part in seeking, and yet we cannot find.
We plea Lord, that You do not forsake us. We ask You to read the desire of our heart and help us to become gainfully employed.
Perhaps we do not yet see why You have chosen to humble us in this manner. We know our capabilities, yet in our searching we find rejection upon rejection.
Almighty God, we only seek to find a job that we might provide for us and ours and that we might be content in the offer of that type of employment. We have searched for long and we need income to provide, and we pray that You will show us the way soon.
Help us to budget and stretch what we have in current finances, and when an offer is made give us a sound mind that we might know this is Your will.
We ask for a job that might allow us to be who we are, a witness for You without prejudice from employers and co-workers, and a chance to use our gifts and talents that Christ has given us.
We ask for some token, any token of Your will that this is the employment that You would have us accept. Let not our pride stand in the way of supporting us and those whom we are responsible for.
We are asking You for provision and we are determined to do what it takes to receive that. We are thanking You, right at this moment, for what You are about to do in our behalf. We thank You Father God for this trust and peace that we now receive, in the name of Jesus. Amen

Prayer For The Mentally Ill
Father God, we beseech you to help us understand the disease of mental illness. It frightens us and disturbs us. Every year in the United States alone 54 million people are affected by one or more mental illnesses. That means that we know someone who is suffering, and we now offer our prayers for them.
We know from statistics that it affects young and old alike and the median delay for treatment is about ten years.
Lord, we know of someone right now who is suffering from mental illness, and in the name of Christ Jesus we bring them to You for help.
We ask Lord, firstly that we may not be filled with bitterness and condemnation, but compassion instead.
We ask Lord, that we may not hold this illness against them.
We ask Lord, for education and not ignorance of this chemical brain disturbance.
We ask Lord, for help and wisdom in getting this person the best treatment, counseling, support or medicine available.
We ask Lord, that You might not only stabilize, but heal.
We ask Lord, that this person might be restored to a healthy relationship with You.
We ask Lord, a precious promise in Your Word which says, (1Co 2:16 ) "But we have the mind of Christ."
Surely we must be humble as Jesus was in His ministry to minister to those that were so troubled. Help us to see this loved one through the process of deliverance.
Grant us the patience to see this person through to safety where they might think and act with reason and recognize You as Lord and Healer, through Christ alone we pray. Amen
